done with one paper! yayyers. stupid saturday morning paper. it was.... not easy. i don't have a good feeling about it, but i think everyone else too.
such is the bell curve system in NUS that people don't strive to excel, they just strive to do less badly as 80% of the cohort and u get your A. or A-. whatever, same same. it's a dog eat dog world and i guess in a way, it reflects the real world. you don't have to be brilliant to look brilliant. it's all relative. u can have an IQ of 50 but if everyone around you has an IQ of 40, you are a freaking genius already!!
so my conclusion is: NUS is evil. it makes me hope that people do worse than me. reality bites. i am usually not so evil one.
so anyway, they didn't quite test what i tried to memorise. so irritating. but just so u noe i studied, let me share some more interesting facts that i've learnt through the course of perfumes and cosmetics!
1. body sweat on its own doesn't cause BO. it's the action of bacteria on ur sweat that causes the stench. so just because a person is super sweaty, it doesn't automatically make him smelly. u gotta wait for the bacteria to do the work man. which i would say is quite efficient in boys! haha.
2. ever wondered how come when u scratch those mag samples, u can actually smell the perfume? it's based on a R&D technology called MICROENCAPSULATION. the perfume oil is placed inside really tiny solid capsules, which ruptures when u scratch them.. hence giving off the scent!
3.MYTH: Drinking six or eight glasses of water a day will keep skin moisture levels high, and is an essential factor in renewing cells and hydrating the skin to prevent wrinkles from forming. It also helps to detoxify and remove waste. FACT: Drinking more will not cause water to enter the skin selectively, unless the person is seriously dehydrated. Normal skin is well hydrated naturally. The excess water goes into all the tissues of the body, and ultimately to the bladder!
Detoxification of the body is carried out by organs such as the liver, which do not need vast amounts of water to function.
4. The growing period of hair is called the anagen period, which is about 5-6yrs. so girls, no pt trying to keep your hair beyond that.. because it will simply not grow any longer!! and it will then fall off.... :S
5. Guys literally have thicker skin than girls -- 0.2mm. BUT, it is also this 0.2mm difference that makes them start ageing 10 yrs later, at 35 yrs old compared to our 25yrs old! (dammit dammit DAMMIT!)
so yeh. that's all that i can remember for now. i immediately went back to hall to give my jie mei the textbooks cuz she thought it was interesting (compared to her econs stuff, of cuz its interesting!! hahaha) so nus pple, if u tot those were interesting facts, u might wanna check out the module. but be warned, those are about the most interesting stuffs u will learn already. and there are many other nonsense like chemical names to remember. BE WARNED!
alrighty. i've taken long enough a break! i shall move onto my core cell biology. MUST GET A FOR THIS MODULE. MY ONLY HOPE. lol.
good luck everyone! jia you jia you jia you! our 3 months break is comingggggg! :D
can't help feeling the way i feel. grr.
